Dubliners is a collection of short stories written by Irish author James Yoice (1882-1941) and published in 1914.Dubliners was conceived during a very complex time for Ireland and Irish nationalism, when the British Empire and the Catholic Church completely dominated the destination of Ireland. Joyce used these 15 stories to stage a kind of moral chapter in Irish history as a way of proposing change, subverting the stagnation of her compatriots.
He saw Dublin as the epicenter of paralysis and chose to set all the stories in that city. even though he hadn't lived there for several years. Critics weren't so kind to Dubliners at the time of publication, but time gave this collection of short stories another run, especially after the rame and impact Joyce made with her masterpiece, Ulysses (1922). Today this collection remains an important part of Joyce's legacy, a unique exploration of style and form among her novels, and an immortal slice of early 20th century Ireland.
